Building Expressions

Use the Expression Builder to create a mathematical expression between multiple numeric keywords or between a numeric keyword and a numeric value that will be used in a condition. To add multiple keywords or a number and a keyword together, you must first set up an expression. The Expression Builder window displays from the Condition Builder grid on the Condition Editor window.

  1. In the Condition Builder, select a blank or numeric value in the Keyword/Form/Pre-built Condition/Expression column and click the Expression button,, inside the cell. The Expression Builder window displays. The tax year, return type, and return configuration are populated and are not editable.
  2. Begin an expression by dragging a numeric keyword from the Keyword Library in the left pane to the Expression Builder grid. Only keywords matching the year and return type display in the library.
  3. Set the expression for the condition using the operators and commands. Expressions can contain an unlimited number of criteria lines.
  4. ClosedExplain the components in the right pane.

  5. Click OK to save your changes.
