Assigning Staff to a Security Group

You can assign a staff to one or more security groups. Staff can be given access to administrative functions, such as creating clients, departments, or positions. Staff can also be given access to routine functions.

There are two sections on this window:

  • Security group assignment criteria grid. Displays your firm's security groups and whether the selected staff is assigned to those groups. If specified criteria are used to define staff with inclusion in a group, and the staff meets that criteria, you will see a check in the Meets Attributes column.
  • Assigned security groups grid. Displays the security groups where this staffis included. The basis of assignment displays how the staff was assigned to the security group, either by their staff attributes or by specific selection.
    • Staff attributes. If a staff has been assigned by attributes, then information from their staff profile matches the requirements of the security group.
    • Specific selection. If you select to include or exclude the staff from the security group on this window (or in the Security Group window), then the assignment is by specific selection. This means that the staff will always be included in the security group even if their staff profile changes.

Note: Changes to the staff profile Assignments > Security Groups window are also shown in the security group profile on the Assigned Staff window.

To manage staff assignments to security groups, do the following:

  1. Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Staff Manager under Staff.
  2. Do one of the following to open the staff profile: 
  3. If you are creating a new staff, click Save to display the Assignments options on the navigation panel.
  4. Click Assignments >Security Groups on the navigation panel.
  5. Select the security groups to which the staff should be assigned. All assigned security groups display in the bottom grid. You can do the following.
    • Select to include staff access to or exclude staff access from individual security groups.
    • Select the check boxes in the column headers to include staff access to or exclude staff access from all security groups.
    • Note: If you select to include or exclude a security group, click Refresh to update the Assigned security groups grid.

  6. Select from the additional window features. ClosedExplain the components of the window.
  7. Do one of the following to save your changes:

    Save Saves the changes and the window stays open for editing.
    Save & New

    Saves the changes and opens a new window to create a staff.

    Note: This option is not available if editing a staff.

    Save & Close Saves the changes and exits the window.
    Cancel Exits the window without saving your changes.
