Setting Up Staff Access Group General Information

Staff access groups restrict access to staff information. The Staff Access Group Profile window allows you to define how the security is applied.

Tip: The simplest method is to secure staff for all products. Identify personnel who need access to staff information and staff maintenance in all product areas, and give those personnel access to the secured staff. If staff need access in other areas, create additional staff access groups to meet those identified needs. Try to keep your security as simple as possible.

To display the staff access group General window, do the following:

  1. Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Access groups under Security.
  2. Click Staff Access Groups on the navigation panel.
  3. Do one of the following:
  4. ClosedAdd a staff access group.
  5. Click New > Staff Access Group on the Home tab of the ribbon, or right-click the grid and select New > Staff Access Group from the menu to create a staff access group.

    ClosedCopy an existing staff access group.

    Select an item in the grid and click Copy in the Create group on the Home tab, or right-click an item in the grid and select Copy from the menu.

    The staff access group profile displays with all information from the originating staff access group, except for the name and description.

    ClosedEdit an existing staff access group.

    Select an item in the grid and click Open in the Edit group on the Home tab, or right-click an item in the grid and select an option from the Open menu.

  6. Give the group a unique name and an optional description. The name must be unique to all staff access groups for your firm. The description can identify the purpose of the staff access group or which staff are included.
  7. Select the products or product modules where the staff should be secured in the Applicable product modules section. Access to staff in the selected products or product modules will be restricted to the staff listed on the Staff With Access window.
  8. Note: Any additional products licensed by your firm in the future will be automatically selected for the staff access group.

  9. Click one of the ClosedSave buttons or cancel.
