Configuring the Return Configuration Set Practice Invoice Interface
For tax years 2012 and higher, the Tax interface with Practice includes the ability to send tax return invoice details as a progress bill to Practice Billing and Invoicing. Options in the return configuration set enable this feature and allow you to set default transaction descriptions for each return type.
To enable sending invoice details to Practice from Tax for a return configuration set, do the following:
- Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Configuration > Return configuration sets under Tax.
- Double-click a return configuration set on the navigation panel.
- Click Practice Interface on the navigation panel.
- Click the Invoice Amount tab.
- Select Enable sending invoice amounts to Practice. This option enables the Tax ribbon button to send invoice amounts for the open return, provided the staff has also licensed and installed Practice.
- Select Prompt to send invoice amounts to Practice when returns are printed, if applicable, and then select one of the following:
- If the accountant, government, or client copy is selected. Displays the prompt when printing the accountant, government, or client copy type, or any combination thereof.
- Only if the government copy is selected. Displays the prompt when printing the government copy type, regardless if another copy type is also selected.
- Accept or enter a different transaction description for each return type. <TAX YEAR> is a variable that includes the applicable tax year in the description.
- Click Save to save your changes and continue working in the return configuration set, or click Save & Close to save your changes and close the return configuration set.
