Exporting Depletion Data to a Spreadsheet

Beginning with tax year 2012 or later returns, you can export depletion data to a spreadsheet from the following types of returns:

  • Corporation
  • Fiduciary
  • Individual
  • Partnership
  • S Corporation

If needed, you can use the exported spreadsheet as a template for an import.

Note: You must have Microsoft® Excel® installed to perform a spreadsheet import or export.

To export data to a spreadsheet, do the following:

  1. Open the Individual, Partnership, S Corporation, Corporation, or Fiduciary return from which you want to export depletion data.
  2. Click Depletion Data in the Export group on the Import / Export tab.
  3. If needed, click Browse to select a different location to save the file. The default location is your Documents folder.

Note: If you change the export location, the system will revert to the default location for future exports.

  4. Click Export.
  5. When the export is completed, click Details to review the export log.

Note: The detail logs are not retained when you exit the wizard. If you need to keep a copy of a log for your reference, click Print to send the log to a printer. You can also click Copy to add the information to the Windows Clipboard, then paste the log information into another document.

  6. If you want the export spreadsheet to open automatically when you close the wizard, select the Launch Excel when export is complete box. If you do not want the spreadsheet top open, clear this box.
  7. Click Finish.
