Configuring Return Configuration Set Other Print Item Options

The Other Print Items tab of the return configuration set Print Options window allows you to select options when printing items other than an entire return, such as correspondence associated with a return, the Federal portion only, or Preparer reports.

To set up options for printing items associated with a return, do the following:

  1. Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Configuration > Return configuration sets under Tax.
  2. Double-click a return configuration set on the navigation panel.
  3. Click Print Options on the navigation panel.
  4. Click the Other Print Items tab.
  5. Select or enter the number of print copies. You can print from one to nine copies if you are printing to a printer. Only one copy can be sent to a document imager, PDF, or TIFF file.

  6. Select a Closedprint destination.

    Printer and TIFFCreates a TIFF file containing one copy of the return and prints up to nine (9) copies of the return to the printer configured in Printer Setup.
  7. You can select a watermark to print in the document background, diagonally from the lower-left to the upper-right corner of the page. The watermark list is configured and can be edited for the firm using Dashboard > Application Links > Settings and defaults (under Firm) > Print.

  8. If you are creating a PDF or TIFF file (with or without printing to a printer), enter or click Browse to select the file location.
  9. Select Create bookmark PDFs to organize PDF content in Federal, State, and Cities bookmarks on the Adobe® Bookmarks pane. If you do not select to create separate PDF files, these bookmarks are located under each copy type.
  10. Notes:

    • This option applies to tax years 2015 and higher.
    • Selecting this option may cause a longer time to process large returns.
    • K-1 packages, if present in the return, are organized in a separate bookmark, regardless if you select this option.
  11. Select Print only open diagnostics to include only open diagnostics in Diagnostics pages when printing Selective Pages and Preparer Reports. This option excludes diagnostics that are signed off, allowing you to focus on diagnostics that may require further input.
  12. Click Save to save your changes and continue working in the return configuration set, or click Save & Close to save your changes and close the return configuration set.
