Running a Diagnostic Report

The diagnostic report is a preliminary comparison of your data. The diagnostic tool checks for invalid or missing information within the data. It is similar to the verification process you completed using the Data Analysis Tool. Migration diagnostics is an optional but recommended process you will run on your existing foundation data.

To run a diagnostic report on your existing foundation data, do the following:

1. Open Data Migration Utility.
2. Click Migration diagnostics.
3. Select CCH ProSystem fx Document.
4. Click Continue.
5. Select your SQL server and enter a database description.
6. Enter your SQL server user ID and password.
7. Click Log In.
8. Review the account selected.
9. Click Continue.
10. Select the criteria for matching records. The information shown here will be used to compare the existing foundation data against the new ProSystem fx Suite data to see if there are any matching records.
    Explain the criteria options.

Area	Criteria
Office	The office name will be compared for matches between the existing foundation suite and the new ProSystem fx Suite.
Business units	The business unit name will be compared for matches between the existing foundation suite and the new ProSystem fx Suite.
Staff	Select one of the groups to use as a comparison when matching staff between the existing foundation suite and the new ProSystem fx Suite.
Clients	Select one of the groups to use as a comparison when matching clients between the existing foundation suite and the new ProSystem fx Suite.

11. Click Continue.
12. Assign a the new ProSystem fx Suite client type to each current client type, or create new client types based on your existing foundation entity types. See Assigning the Entity Type to a Client Type for more information.
13. Click Continue to run the diagnostic report. The processing time varies depending on the size of your database.
14. Click Continue again once the diagnostic is complete.
15. Review the reports on each tab for exact, possible, and no matches. See Reviewing the Diagnostic Report for more information.
16. Click to save the report to an XLS or XLSX file.
17. Click Finish to return to the Welcome window.
18. Correct the necessary data in your current product.
