Using Keyboard Shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts allow you to access application functions using fewer commands and without needing to use your mouse. Expand the following items to display the available keyboard shortcuts grouped by their functionality.
General Shortcuts
Alt
Show/hide application KeyTips.
Ctrl + A
Select all.
Ctrl + C
Copy the selected item or text.
Ctrl + F
Open the Find window.
Ctrl + M
Open Dashboard.
Ctrl + N
Open a new blank document or the New window.
Ctrl + O
Open the Open window.
Ctrl + P
Open the Print window.
Ctrl + V
Paste the item or text from the Clipboard.
Ctrl + X
Cut the selected item or text.
Ctrl + Y
Redo the previous action.
Ctrl + Z
Undo the previous action.
F1
Display context-sensitive Help.
F2
Rename the selected item.
F5
Refresh the active window.
Shift + F10
Display the shortcut menu for the selected item.
List View Shortcuts
Ctrl + Home
Moves focus to the first item.
Ctrl + End
Moves focus to the last item.
Ctrl + arrow keys + spacebar
Allow non-contiguous selection of multiple items.
Any key or keys
Select an item matching the first letter of an option in the list.
Cursor Movement Shortcuts
Up arrow
Move up one line.
Down arrow
Move down one line.
Right arrow
Move right one character.
Left arrow
Move left one character.
Ctrl + right arrow
Move right one word.
Ctrl + left arrow
Move left one word.
Home
Move to the beginning of the line.
End
Move to the end of the line.
Page up
Move up one window.
Page down
Move down one window.
Ctrl + Home
Move to the beginning of the line, list, or grid.
Ctrl + End
Move to the end of the line, list, or grid.
Window Shortcuts
Alt + F6
Move from an open window back to the document, for windows such as Find and Replace that support this behavior.
Tab
Move to the next option or option group.
Shift + Tab
Move to the previous option or option group.
Ctrl + Tab
Switch to the next tab in a window.
Ctrl + Shift + Tab
Switch to the previous tab in a window.
Arrow keys
Move between options in an open list or between options in a group of options.
Spacebar
Perform the action assigned to the selected button; select or clear the selected box.
Alt + down arrow; F4
Open a selected list.
Alt + up arrow
Close a selected list.
First letter of an option in a list
Select an option from a list.
Esc
Close a selected list; cancel a command and close the window.
Enter
Run the selected command.
Editing Boxes in Windows
Home
Move to the beginning of the entry.
End
Move to the end of the entry.
Left arrow or right arrow
Move one character to the left or right.
Ctrl + left arrow
Move left one word.
Ctrl + right arrow
Move right one word.
Shift + left arrow
Select or unselect one character to the left.
Shift + right arrow
Select or unselect one character to the right.
Ctrl + Shift + left arrow
Select or unselect one word to the left.
Ctrl + Shift + right arrow
Select or unselect one word to the right.
Shift + Home
Select from the insertion point to the beginning of the entry.
Shift + End
Select from the insertion point to the end of the entry.
Managing Actions
Esc
Cancel an action.
Ctrl + Z
Undo an action.
Ctrl + Y
Redo or repeat an action.
Other Shortcuts
Alt + Tab
Switch to the next window.
Alt + Shift + Tab
Switch to the previous window.
Print Scrn
Copy a picture of the screen to the clipboard.
Alt + Print Scrn
Copy a picture of the selected window to the clipboard.
Note : In addition to keyboard shortcuts, access keys are available for ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar commands. Press the Alt key to display KeyTips for each command. The KeyTip that displays for a particular command is the key that can be used in conjunction with the Alt key to perform that function, for example, Alt+F displays the Application menu.
