Customizing the Quick Access Toolbar

The Quick Access Toolbar displays either above or below the ribbon, depending on your preference, and can be customized to include the commands and ribbon groups Ribbon groups are labeled ribbon sections that combine commands that execute similar functions. you use most. Some commands, such as the command to open Dashboard, are included in the Quick Access Toolbar by default. Clicking a ribbon group that you have added to your Quick Access Toolbar displays a sub-menu of all the commands within the group.

The default and available optional commands vary depending on the module you are using. Your custom Quick Access Toolbar settings are applied to the module you are currently working in.

You can add or remove commands and ribbon groups in each module's Quick Access Toolbar from the following locations:

Quick Access Toolbar Menu

Click to the right of the Quick Access Toolbar to display the menu options.

Select More Commands from the Quick Access Toolbar menu.
Select the commands to display in the Available and Selected commands lists.

Option	Description
More Commands	Opens the window to customize your Quick Access Toolbar, which allows you to change the number and sequence of commands in the toolbar.
Show Below (or Above) the Ribbon	Moves the toolbar to the specified location.
Minimize (or Maximize) the Ribbon	Minimizes (or maximizes) the ribbon so only the tab names are visible.

Option	Description
Application commands	Ribbon and Application menu commands and ribbon groups that are available in the current module. A drop-down arrow displays in the list next to each ribbon group.
Commands not in the ribbon	Commands in the Application menu for the current module and any other command not included on the ribbon.
All commands	All Commands and ribbon groups that are available in all licensed modules.
Other module commands	Commands available for other licensed and installed modules. For example, you can add the command to create a new tax return or the command to create a new project to your Staff Manager Quick Access Toolbar.
Tab commands	Ribbon commands and ribbon group commands on each available tab for the current module. Some modules have multiple ribbon tabs.

Do one of the following:

Add a command or ribbon group. Select a command or ribbon group from the Available commands list and click the right arrow to add the item to your Quick Access Toolbar.
Remove a command or ribbon group. Select a command or ribbon group from the Selected commands list and click the left arrow to remove the item from your Quick Access Toolbar.

Select from the additional Quick Access Toolbar options, if needed.

Option	Description
Move Up/Move Down	Moves a selected command or ribbon group up or down in the list. When you click OK, the items appear in the selected order in your Quick Access Toolbar.
Reset	Restores the Quick Access Toolbar to the default settings as defined by the module.
Show Quick Access Toolbar below the Ribbon	When selected, displays the Quick Access Toolbar below the ribbon. When cleared, displays the toolbar above the ribbon.

Move Up/Move Down

Moves a selected command or ribbon group up or down in the list. When you click OK, the items appear in the selected order in your Quick Access Toolbar.

Reset

Restores the Quick Access Toolbar to the default settings as defined by the module.

Show Quick Access Toolbar below the Ribbon

When selected, displays the Quick Access Toolbar below the ribbon. When cleared, displays the toolbar above the ribbon.

Click OK.
