Depletion Number

The "Depletion Number" is used to carry the depreciation and/or amortization expense from assets to an assigned depletion property. Enter the same property number as entered in Income/Deductions > Depletion > Property and Cost Depletion section for each asset associated with the particular property. There is no limit to the number of depreciable assets that can be entered for a depletion property (except for the maximum of 65,534 assets per return). If an entry is made here, but the Form 4562 is not associated with a Depletion Entity, the depletion number will be removed and a diagnostic issued.

Default. If "Depletion Number" is blank, the depreciation or amortization is included with other overhead expenses on the depletion statement.
