Creating Audit Trail Activity Reports

The audit trail reports capture information about activities performed in Document. You can track activities by users and by files. If needed, reports can be printed. They can also be exported as Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheets, PDFs, or XPS files.

Note: Your administrator must enable audit trail tracking before you can generate audit trail reports.

ClosedGenerate a user activity audit trail report.

  1. Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Settings and defaults under Firm.
  2. Click Document > Audit Trail Reports > User Activity on the navigation panel.
  3. In the Users box, select the staff members for whom you want to view activity information.
  4. Use one of the following to specify the date range for the report:
    • From/To. Enter a beginning and ending date.
    • Prior to a specified date. To view user activity before a specific date, enter that date.
    • Since a specified date. To view user activity after a specific date, enter that date.
  5. In the Activity type section, select the activities you want to include in the activity report.
  6. Click View Report to display the report.
  7. To print or export the report, right-click a line in the report, and then select either Print or Export.
  8. Click Close to exit the report.

ClosedGenerate a file activity audit trail report.

  1. Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Settings and defaults under Firm.
  2. Click Document > Audit Trail Reports > File Activity on the navigation panel.
  3. In the Users box, select the staff members for whom you want to view activity information. If no users are selected, the report will generate for all users.
  4. Use one of the following to specify the date range for the report:
    • From/To. Enter a beginning and ending date.
    • Prior to a specified date. To view activity before a specific date, enter that date.
    • Since a specified date. To view activity after a specific date, enter that date.
  5. In the Activity type section, select the activities you want to include in the activity report.
  6. Click View report to display the report.
  7. To print or export the report, right-click a line in the report, and then select either Print or Export.
  8. Click Close to exit the report.

Tip: The audit trail feature captures a large amount of data. We recommend that you archive or purge the audit trail records regularly. You can set the archive or purge to occur automatically, or you can perform these processes manually.
