Setting Up Firm Milestone Dates

During system setup, you can create a list of milestoneClosed Important dates or events that occur in the life of a project. dates that your firm uses to track the progress of projects and worksteps. When the list is saved, your firm's staff can select the milestone dates that should be available for different projects, project types, and worksteps.

These dates are in addition to any form due dates you have set up.

Tip: When you create your milestone dates, use names that are descriptive enough that all users will be able to apply them to their projects appropriately.

Milestone dates are significant events that occur in the course of a project. For example, milestone dates can be listed as stages: First Review, First Conference, Final Review, Follow-up Conference. Milestone dates can also be listed as specific dates: Calendar Year End, Fiscal Year End, 12/31, 10/31, and other milestone dates can be created.

To add, edit, or delete milestone dates for your firm, do the following:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Lists under Firm.
    • Open Workstream, and then click Lists in the Manage group on the Manage ribbon.
  2. Click Workstream Lists > Milestone Dates . The milestone dates that have already been created for your firm display in the grid.
  3. Do any of the following:
    • Create a new milestone date. Click New on the button bar, or right-click the grid and select New from the menu.
    • Edit an existing milestone date. Select an item in the grid and click Edit on the button bar, or right-click an item in the grid and select Edit from the menu.
    • Delete a milestone date. Select an item in the grid and click Delete on the button bar, or right-click an item in the grid and select Delete from the menu.
    • Reorder the milestone dates. Update the value in the Order column to change the completion order for the milestone dates. Any milestone dates with an order after the number you enter will automatically update. For example, you change milestone date 9 to 7, so milestone dates 7, 8, and 10 are now ordered 8, 9, and 10.
  4. Press Enter or click another row to save your changes.
  5. To exit the grid, select another item on the navigation panel.
