Finding a Client or Other Entity
To access files for a particular entity, you first must locate that entity in Document's navigation pane. Entities are grouped by the entity type, except in the Favorites pane, where you can add entities of all types.
Up to 30 entities can display in an entity group at one time. By default, entities are listed in the order you accessed them, with the most recently accessed entity at the top.
If the entity you need is not visible in a group, use the procedure below to add it to the list.
Add an Entity to the Navigation Pane
- Click the entity type on the navigation panel.
- Select filters for the office and business unit, if needed.
- Begin typing the name of the entity you are looking for in the Name Lookup box. As you type, the system displays possible matches. Click the correct entity when you see it.
If you still do not see the entity you need, click in the List Options section to refresh the list, and then perform the search again. If you still cannot find the entity, verify that the entity has been set up in Dashboard.
Manage How Entities Display in the Navigation Pane
By default, entities are listed by sort name and ID. You can change the identifier that displays for clients using the entity list user option.
You also can use the buttons that display at the top of the entity group sections to manage the entities in that group. These buttons are not available for the firm and office entities.
